Royal Purple Stretch Velvet: Loungewear Set
Whew, last blog post of the year! It has genuinely been one heck of a year, and I'm aware that much won't change when the clock strikes midnight, but I must admit I'll be happy that this year is concluding. That being said, let's chat about how I'll be finishing the year or, better yet, what I'll be wearing. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm currently working my way through yards of stretch velvet that I've had in my stash for quite some time. This royal purple velvet, a gift from one of my great aunts, has been around for about two years.
I initially pulled it out to make a pair of pants for a group photoshoot with my best friends. But after I made the pants, I quickly realized that this would be cute as a set. I decided to use the Adrienne Blouse by Friday Pattern Company to make the top because I love the fit and sleeves (read a detailed review here). I made the pants by modifying my self-drafted leggings/tights pattern. The modification was simple. I added about 4 inches to the hem and extended the leg's width by 4 inches on each side. I drew a line between the four-inch mark and my knee measurement line. I find pictures are beneficial when discussing pattern modifications, so here's an illustration of my modifications.
I am happy that this set is in my closet. I love that it is comfortable enough to wear around the house and stylish enough to be worn in public. I have already worn the set for Sunday brunch, and I have no doubts that I will wear this top regularly for the rest of the season. Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful time closing out this year in whatever way you deem appropriate. Oh, and I'm nowhere near finished with the velvet looks; stay tuned.
