Disney's Scrooge McDuck Inspired Style
Yep, it’s yet another outfit inspired by a Disney character. And since I haven’t written in quite some time, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to share multiple projects in one post.
Ducktales has always been a favorite show of mine, with Scrooge McDuck being one of my favorite characters. While the original television classic has a special place in my heart, the reboot has scored major points with me, which is why my outfit resembles the color scheme of the new and improved Scrooge. I made four projects for this look: a cork purse, cork wallet, bodysuit, and culottes. Now let’s talk details.
The purse and wallet were designed by me and made using cork as the main fabric and fleece as the lining. I added the dollar sign print using screen print paint and a cardstock template that I cut using my Cricut maker. The bag and wallet design is relatively simple, and I have considered writing up instructions for it and sharing it as a free pattern. While I would love to promise that will happen, I know that I shouldn’t, so I shall not make such promises. However, if it happens, obviously, my subscribers will be first to know, so don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter. I also have a “Behind the Seams” video on IGTV for both, so be sure to check it out!
The bodysuit was created by hacking my TNT bodysuit pattern (Simplicity 8513), using the same knit fabrics that I used to make my Adrienne Blouse. The culottes are the Tania Culottes by Megan Nielsen, and this is my second time using this pattern, but my first time doing a review. The fabric is leftover yardage from this project. I made a wearable muslin last year (see here), and although it has been worn several times, I wanted to give this pattern another go with a few adjustments. The first time I made it, I only made one adjustment, adding length to the hem because I knew from others’ reviews that “mini” is genuinely mini. I cut the size 10, and the pattern fit me well as is, but I wanted the waistband to sit a little higher, and the crotch was a little high for personal comfort. For this version, I added to the front and back rise, and I scooped the crotch out by 1/4”. Before finishing the hem, I allowed the skirt to hang for two days to allow it to stretch on the bias. Now that I have made these adjustments, I think I want to try the midi length version using lightweight wool for the fall.
This project is my last Disney inspired look for the year, but I hope you have enjoyed what I shared, and felt inspired to add a little magic to your wardrobe. Until next time creative people.
