Simple Alterations: Simplicity 8554

How many times have you gone in your closet and had the one piece you know can be better, but you can't figure out what's wrong? I have had this moment for a couple of years with this sleeveless coat.

Until it finally hit me last weekend. It was the bias tape finish. I realized that I didn't like the double-fold bias tape finish one bit, so I removed it. Like literally got the scissors and cut off the bias tape. I see now that I should have removed the seam allowance that was there for attaching the sleeve. I finished the armhole with a single fold bias tape and slip stitched the tape in place.

That's it, a simple solution for a major issue, and I love it just as much as I did when I finished it the first time.  To see what it looked like before, check out my original blog post here. You all know how I feel about dressing in layers, so this piece falls right into place. I styled it with my brown boots and a bright red turtle neck dress
