Simplicity 9469: Keyhole Neckline Tunic
After two months of sewing for others, it feels great to redirect that energy into projects for myself. It's been a while since I made something for myself that isn't knit fabric, but I really wanted to sew something that wouldn't require all the adjustments I usually have to make for woven projects; Simplicity 9469 fit the bill.
The pattern is a woven pullover top with a v-shaped or keyhole with self ties neckline. I made View D (keyhole neckline and three-quarter length sleeve) at tunic length. I cut the size 14 for the front and 10 for the back pattern pieces. For size reference, I am a D Cup. The fabric is a polyester purchased at Hobby Lobby. I caught a great sale and got two yards for five dollars.
The only modification that I made was correcting the pattern error. I watched Crumpets, Tea, and Sewing video review before cutting the pattern, and she mentioned that the side seams for the back and front pieces were different lengths. Sure enough, when I cut the pattern and measured the length, one was shorter, so I lengthened it to match. Other than that, there were no other adjustments. This was an easy sew, and I can see myself using the pattern again. I would recommend it to an advanced beginner. The top is paired with slacks from WHBM and Jessica Simpson pumps.
