Navy Geo Circle Bow Tie
One thing has proven to be true over the years: the projects that I think should be pretty simple often are the complete opposite. A prime example is this oh-so-lovely bow tie. The first attempt at making this was a complete failure, and once I realized it couldn't be salvaged, I moved on to the wallet for my niece (see here). I decided it would be best to come back to this after I successfully completed another project.
The pattern can be found on hello sewing.com, and it is free. Before my second attempt at making this, I made a few changes. First, I added a ¼” to the pattern, because I realized I would do better with a ½” seam allowance. I cut the interfacing at the original cut line so it could be a ¼” smaller than the main fabric. Adding extra to the seam allowance really gave me wiggle room needed with this slippery fabric.
I also decided not to turn my bowtie right side out using the loop turner. When I did this the first time, I ended up with a small hole in the end. These small changes made a major difference. I'm happy with the final look, and I may consider making this again. Not anytime soon, but it may happen again.
