Jacquard Knit Skirt: Simplicity 8265

Okay, everyone, it's confession time. I am genuinely beginning to feel a little stressed whenever I walk into my sewing room. Maybe it's because I spend most of my free time at home now, but the sewing stash has grown to be too much. In fact, every time I order something, I feel super guilty because I instantly realize that I don't have anywhere to place new fabric; that's how out of hand it has gotten. So I am trying to pick projects for the next few months to work with the fabric I own. Now, will this go as planned? Only time will tell, but I will try my best to keep this goal in mind when planning. That being said, it is likely that the projects I share over the next few months will be sewn using fabric no longer available for purchase. So I apologize in advance!

I made a skirt using Simplicity 8265 in early spring but never wrote a post about the make; you can see it here. I recently did a closet inventory and realized I don't have that many fitted skirts anymore. I liked the fit of my first skirt using s8265, so I pulled it out to make another one using some jacquard plaid knit purchased at hobby lobby last year. I only made my standard pattern modifications. I cut the size 10 and graded to a 12 at the hips, and I shortened the skirt by one inch. I like this pattern because it is a pull-on skirt, which means no zipper is required. I also like that this design has darts for the skirt back, which gives me more shape along my derriere than the standard knit pencil skirt. This was a quick sew project, and I would definitely recommend it for a confident beginner interested in tackling darts. I already planned my next project with this pattern, and I will be pulling from my fabric stash. I styled the skirt with a black bodysuit (old) and Calvin Klein pumps (old) for today's post.
